Windows 8 has officially been confirmed for release on the 26th October 2012. The new operating system from Microsoft will be available on laptops, desktops, smartphone & tablets, including Microsoft’s own Surface tablet device. Windows 8 has made some radical changes from its predecessors, signalling one of the biggest Windows OS changes to date. The new intuitive Windows 8 app model makes it even easier for businesses users to create their own line-of-business apps that can help to enhance productivity, and are even available on tablet devices. The OS speed has also been vastly improved over its predecessor, so you can find what you need even faster. IT administrators will also be happy to know that reliability & security are now even more stable and Windows 8 works seamlessly with an existing Windows management infrastructure.

Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system will indeed be compatible with existing hardware, even ones that predated the Windows 7 release. This means faster software updates and other computer updates that need a system restart. Other enhancements include the operating system’s ability to support UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) secure boot.
